Shell FuelSave Partnership Drives Fuel Efficiency
At RCS we are always looking for new ways to become greener by improving practices and procedures. Over the past few months we have been working closely with Shell Fuel to become an active FuelSave partner which helps improve our fuel efficiency and in turn reduces our carbon footprint.
Shell have developed a new fuel management solution for commercial transport fleets that help cut both fuel costs and consumption along with CO2 emissions.
How it works
Shell FuelSave Partner analyses our fuelling, vehicle and driver data, and provides us with easy-to-understand reports that help improve our fleet's fuel efficiency by up to 10%. It also automatically calculates our fuel-related CO2 emissions on a per tonne-mile basis, making it easier for us to manage, and reduce, our fuel-related carbon footprint.
Instant results
Results within the first month's trial attributed to a significant reduction in fuelling based on monitoring just one aspect of our fleet's operational practices with minimal training for staff and drivers.
"Small changes often yield greater gains and it's these that we are constantly evaluating. Going back to basics and having the ability to analyse details such as driving techniques, fuelling and potential irregularities is so important, not only to our industry in terms of cost savings but also in our responsibility to the environment", comments Steve Gray, Commercial Director.
Total integration of all monitoring processes across the whole fleet is currently being rolled out and based on the results from our initial trials, we anxiously await the findings over the coming months.
